The number of characters Zenless Zone Zero had at launch is relatively small compared to Hoyoverse’s other games. Specifically, Zenless Zone Zero launched with around 16 characters, while Genshin Impact launched with 22 characters, and Honkai: Star Rail launched with 24 characters. It’s also worth mentioning that, so far, Zenless Zone Zero has only featured one Exclusive Signal Search Channel for characters at a time, unlike in Genshin Impact where there are always two limited-time Event Wish Banners, each with a different featured character to choose from.
Although the wait for new characters in Zenless Zone Zero has been slow and steady, recent leaks for Zenless Zone Zero are already on top of credible information regarding several upcoming characters. So far, these new Zenless Zone Zero leaks roughly cover the next three version updates worth of anticipated new characters ahead of their official reveals, as well as some early information regarding the names of characters beyond these next few updates.
Players should exercise caution when interpreting leaks regarding unreleased content for Zenless Zone Zero.

debuted on August 3, 2024, officially revealing elements of the upcoming update, including the new characters Jane Doe, Qingyi, and Seth from New Eridu Public Security. The Creator Beta Server also opened following the 1.1 Special Program livestream. Some fans may have the chance to playtest future updates for Zenless Zone Zero. Also, with this test server opening so soon in Zenless Zone Zero’s lifespan, this will presumably lead to a rise in the quality and quantity of leaks going forward.
Version 1.1 will also introduce a new S-Rank Bangboo in Zenless Zone Zero, who synergizes with Physical Damage characters and members of the New Eridu Public Security faction (Zhu Yuan, Jane Doe, Qingyi, and Seth).
Many players initially anticipated Zenless Zone Zero to maintain a release schedule that would balance out the roster of playable characters by prioritizing the roles and Elemental types that currently have very few characters. However, leaks suggest that Zenless Zone Zero’s upcoming characters will instead utilize a release schedule that will group characters by factions. This makes sense considering that new characters and their related factions will likely be featured in the main story and events in Zenless Zone Zero surrounding their release. However, this can be frustrating considering that there are Elements and character specializations that currently have very few selections for players looking to balance their team compositions based on these criteria.
Additional Leaked Zenless Zone Zero Characters
For the following leaked Zenless Zone Zero characters, very little information is currently known about them beyond their names. This includes:
- Big Daddy
- Chinatsu
- Fugue
- Hugo Vlad
- Joyous
- Lucia
- Nocha
- Rokudou Suriel
- Sun Bringer
- Trigger
- Yutane
Some of these characters already appear in the game or official promotional materials, yet they aren’t available as playable characters in Zenless Zone Zero yet. To a trained eye, the design of certain stylized characters when compared to more simplified background characters suggests that these highly detailed characters will eventually join the roster of playable characters though.
